Inspiration and Collaboration

I feel the pace up exponentially as we get further into the semester, and it’s a task in and of itself to keep up with everything I have to do! Even so, I feel like my biggest challenge this week was less time management - which I’m starting to get a handle on - and more getting through things that were completely unfamiliar to me to find inspiration - particularly with xFab and Critical Computation. I didn’t spend enough time on either of those, which is something to correct next week.

Major Studio felt like more of an exercise in collaboration. With a larger group - four people, as opposed to the pairs we’ve been working in for the last two weeks - it was definitely a change. We went in very different directions with all three objects, but deciding on the baby music player was almost a unanimous decision. I definitely had the most fun working with it.

The Mismatch reading was especially engaging. Reading through it reminded me of this organisation I came across a few weeks ago - I’ll talk more about this in the User Needs Examples - called the Adaptive Design Association, which provides low-tech efficient solutions to - primarily - children with disabilities. I wrote a summary of the work they showed me when I visited them, which I’m linking here.

I feel better prepared for the next week than I did this week - especially with Critical Computation - and I’m trying to keep the momentum going. Until next week!
