Contextual Information

This week in class, I attempted to answer broad questions about the context of the project.

What will your audience experience?

  • People participating will hopefully experience a sense of creation.

  • The passive audience watching the project in process will be able to observe how people move (when working with a direction) and how they change/shape their behaviour based on how it is affecting the creation.

How will they participate/what is their role?

  • The audience participating engage in the creation of artwork by manipulating it with their actions.

  • Playtesting

  • Engaging with the concept of learning through play

  • Initial instructions may be required to provide a broad overview and contextualise the project.

Who will experience your project?

  • People with different levels of familiarity with each other.

  • Strangers will interact with the project differently than acquaintances or friends.

  • The scope of the project will probably be limited to ~2 people at a time.

Where will they experience it?

  • I initially imagined this project in a gallery space, with a curated exhibit.

  • Will require a limited amount of space for people to move.

  • Alternatively, the project could also be a curated, directed performance.

  • A more personalised option is to let people interact with the project in their own space, using a webpage and a webcam.

When will they experience it?

  • Since people will probably require basic instructions, the project will have to be a curated experience when I am present to direct it.

  • People could engage with it in their own spaces if it is accessible on a webpage, but that will significantly change their experience of interacting with it.
